We asked, and you answered! Thanks so much to everyone who answered our little facebook poll on what you’d like to see more of on the blog 🙂 Besides photography (real weddings and engagements), a big number of you wanted to see more wedding-related DIY posts! I have a fun, super easy and incredibly cheap project to share with you today…a colorful streamer backdrop! We saw some beautiful + totally awesome backdrops selling on Etsy for anywhere from $50-300, but we didn’t want to pay that for our styled shoot this weekend. The supplies were:
2 long wooden dowels (1/2 inch) that we glued together – this part would have been easier if we had just bought a 6 foot long dowel, available at Home Depot or Lowe’s. We got these at Michael’s.
3 rolls of streamers from Party Supply
Clear packing tape
Total cost: $16
You can make this in any color combination, and it looks awesome as a ceremony backdrop, dessert table backdrop, or even for a DIY photo booth setup. We made ours in hot pink, pale pink + orange for our styled shoot this weekend!
Simply tape each piece of streamer to the top of the dowel, wrapping it all the way around so it covers the dowel.
Ours only took about 25 minutes to tape all together. You can also use ribbons, which would be a bit more expensive. This backdrop cost $16 total using the streamers! Just attach fishing wire if you need to hang it, or simply prop it onto two surfaces.
What do you guys think?? Will any of you be incorporating fun backdrops into your wedding?
